Wouldn't it be better to wait for either some huge title release (Halo Reach) or Kinect launch and unveil it at that time for more impact? This way they'll sell some more units for a month or less and than drop to the old numbers, since they have nothing to keep the momentum. |
MS is still learning how this market works, they saw that a regular stream of HW and SW novelties apparently helped PS3 to build momentum and keep it for a lot more than expected by hateboys, and now they try to repeat this success. Maybe it's also matter of pissed off shareholders, so they released the slim asap to lower costs and increase profit margins (despite selling at a profit, XB360 is still very far from recovering initial investments, and then there are the $4billion lost by XB1 and the billion or more for RRoD, that isn't accounted for in entertainment division losses but in a special balance sheet item, "Corporate level activity", that includes also lawsuits, R&D costs of whatever can or could be used by many divisions and whatever losses they could put there).
