I hope that doesn't mean it is a port/remake. I can't think of anything that the 3ds could add to the game. 

They can make it in 3D, isn't that good enough to make it awesome?

Not when it is this  game. If they want to see a benefit from 3d, then they would have to redo the graphics entirely, and considering how relatively brief it will be since its release on the DS, I doubt they would do that. That is why I'm hoping it is a sequel if anything.
