Its not "balls," there is specific scenes they wanted to show and they may have not occured during a live demonstation.
Nintendo was accused of doing the same thing when the Wii was launching. The motion tracking was also greatly exagerated. They showed people swinging the Wiimote like a sword but all it really tracks is waggling.
I saw a video that may have been from E3 last year of the Move. They were demonstrating The Fight (it was called Motion Fighter at the time). The guy demonstrating the game struggled to get the character to do a few attacks. Hence, unresponive controls or glitches aren't a problem when you fake the demo.
