Move and Kinect are far less serious investments on the part of either of them than they're making them appear. EyeToy looked like a serious investment in its day, too, but it never became a kingpin of the PS2 experience
These late-term peripherals are defensive actions primarilly, especially in Sony's case, while they cook up something that they can really steal marketshare with, but necessitates a new console for both.
