I think the OP is right, I'll add a second theory to this. I think this holiday season is very crucial for third party sales to determine if they'll allocate more reasource toward the Wii system, and nintendo is pretty delay some of its big title to give third parties a chance to sell their softwares. IF third party software get some nice sales number then it'll be more attractive for them to put more resource into making wii games, because there is no garanteed the wii will continue endlessly sell out without quality games in the future. it'll require more than a year for 3rd party developers to make a top quality game. if everyone is happy with their software sales number then by the next holiday season we'll definitely see more better quality titles released or anounced for 2009. Its definitely a good strategy for nintendo to pull back on their big guns and share the pie with 3rd parties.
