I am pretty confident that most WII games are not good. Only games like mario, zelda and the other firts party games actually deserve such sales. PS2 games were of quality and that is something the WII can't replicate at the moment.

you can and can't blame Nintendo on this.

its their fault that they made no effort for piracy and no effort to up their tech

and its third parties fault that they didn't do anything special for the wii.

I'm tired of hearing people say that third parties don't try much for the wii. Monster Hunter Trii is an awesome game and so is No more heroes and I'm sure many other games as well. The problem is, the wii owners buy mostly Mario and Party games. What would you do if you were a developer? Try to make a great game and get poor sales or make yet another "party" game with little effort and get great sales?

Monster Hunter Tri outsold the PS2 Monster Hunters (by a big amount as well), so you can't really use MH3 as an example.

And before anyone uses Muramasa as an example, Odin Sphere didn't sell that much more (and the PS2 had a much higher userbase)

Don't you think MH3 has been selling poorly in the west, despite being a great game? i noticed that many people in this forum were suprised by its lower than expected sales in the west. All I'm saying is that such sales are discouraging for 3rd parties to take any chances developing costly games for the wii. And I think that Monster hunter was not very popular when it came out on the ps2, but its fanbase grew with freedom unite. Also the ps2 has overall low sales due to piracy (I don't know a single person who owns any ps2 games)

It's an online focused, extremely difficult, very Japanese, grind 'em up.   How well do those usually sell in the west?  And in America and Europe, Tri more than doubled sales of the previous best selling installment (MHFU) upfront.  It's probably going to crawl to 2m shipped lifetime worldwide, which is probably the most it could've hoped for on any system really.

If you want to see high budget Capcom games that are badly underperforming in the west, look no further than recent PS3 & 360 releases (Bionic Commando, Dark Void, Lost Planet 2).

Wii piracy is actually easier to do than PS2 piracy too btw.  All you need is an SD card or USB drive and a copy of Zelda to install HBC, on PS2 you actually had to chip your console.
