I can tell you how it works right now. If you have a PC and an antivirus then you know how it works. Anti Virus run in the background and query updates. The competition ie MS and Sony "online area" requires users manually download updates. As do most PC games.

So Nintendo is i'm assuming going to allow games to anchor automatic updates into the OS when running in the background online. So while your playing SF4 3DS you will find updates coming down for say Nintendogs Cats... or something like that.

Been there done that. However this behind the scenes online for anchored updates is extremely important in regards to getting the masses online. Most console owners do not go online. This invisible style works because it's more like antivirus. It's passive and mostly invisible to the user. Thus it's more convenient and will be more of a success.

So there you go... no more wondering how it will work.
