What part of "Now I know the current sales are unlikely to continue at this rate forever" did you not understand?
Let me explain a few things...
So the PS2 has sold something like 7 or 8 million this year but it wont sell 20 million more EVER!?? That would only be the case if there was something that had directly replaced it in the marketplace. The Wii IS NOT that console. The PS2 sales will keep trickling in over the years to come. People sprouting that the Wii has sold so much quicker than the PS2 did in its first year need to contain themselves because yes that is true but LOOK AT THE MARKET. How many consoles were sold that year in total? This year Sony have sold around 15 million Playstations, Nintendo have sold around 18 million Wiis and Microsoft have sold around 8 million 360s. Thats over 40 million consoles sold without even looking at the handheld market.
While I fully agree the Wii will likely outsell the PS2 its not going to happen anytime soon. At least 5 years from now. More like 2015.
