I see no extra precision, even when miyamoto was doing the demo on stage he explained how enemies needed vertical or horizontal slices, doing each on the plants.

In fact I saw nothing being done that motionplus was needed for.  Motionplus is being used as a selling point when it isn't even needed.

Pardon shortened typing, burned my hand.

Bolded: you are factually and quantifiably wrong. You can slice at any angle you want, not just vertical and horizontal. This comes up, too, especially in the scorpion fight.

You should watch some demo footage

Looks really cool

I see the sword follow the wiimote better, this is not needed for combat though, without motion plus you are capable of swinging at various angles, TP used only two but many other games have used more.

The 1:1 sword motion sounds really cool but in practicality it isn't really needed. Can do very accurately 8 different directions with regular wiimote, how many more are really needed?

It's adding depth to the basic combat system, something that series pundits have been saying Zelda lacked for awhile now.  And not just in the "slice at angle to kill plant/boss claw" bits, watch the sword fights with the skeletons and moblins, where you can see them actually parry blows and force more complex swordplay.
