People think Sony owns the rights to Final Fantasy VII - XIII. That was proven false by the Multi-platform of Final Fantasy XIII. Square-Enix are the only ones that decide what they want to do with FFVII. If Nintendo wanted FFVII right now they can buy it off of Square or simplyl just port it over in 3D.

Oh, I know Sony doesn't own the Final Fantasy games.  I was just throwing that out there for fanboys.  The two games that fanboys most commonly cry for are Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII.  Half of that has come true, and on a system that could easily handle both.  I just threw the idea in there because Squeenix has been more than generous with RPG love for Nintendo's portables the past few years.  Like I said, Final Fantasy 1-6 all appeared on the GBA, remakes of 3 and 4 on the DS, Dragon Quest remakes on the DS, Dragon Quest IX a DS exclusive.  Kingdom Hearts.  What better way to cull more money from the Final Fantasy franchise than to upgrade it slightly, make it 3-D and drop it on the 3DS?  Tell me fanboys wouldn't collectively cream their pants to see Sephiroth, graphically upgraded, in 3-D and portable.

I haven't played them, but from my understanding, the other "revisits" to FFVII haven't exactly won over the fans.  Maybe I only heard the negative stuff.
