You could put it on a USB drive 

Other than that you would have to download everything over again if you didn't use a transfer cable but the USB drive should work fine.

I don't mind downloading the XBLA games again as long as I can get to them. It's the saved data I'm concerned about, but if all you need is a USB drive, then that's a relief to hear..

Yup but you can only put up to 16gb per a USB so hopefully you don't have too many things to transfer over. Also in order to use the USB your 360 has to format the flash drive so make sure you transfer all your old data off that drive. There should be plenty of tutorials on how to format the USB once you have it in your 360 but from what I understand it should be pretty straight forward so you can probably figure it out on your own.
