The problem with PS2 shipment figures is that Sony changed accounting methods in 2007 from production shipments (ie: units produced or even just ordered) to the industry standard sold (ie: shipped to retail). The issue comes because they never gave out an official corrected ltd in their financial reports (though The Source found one in a PR once upon a time iirc) and as such anyone who just adds up the figures from before and after accounting changes, is double counting around 5m units and automatically inflating the ltd (this is what all the 145m figures are afaik). I'm not sure, maybe The Source could drop in and give us the correct figures?
Another issue with comparing shipment figures directly though is that Sony includes Chinese PS2 sales (they're done via SCEH, SCE's Hong Kong subsidiary) while Nintendo doesn't report on Chinese DS sales (which are handled by iQue, a Nintendo start up). GBA's also at this disadvantage, we have no idea idea how many units it's sold via iQue either. And if you want to consider the iQue console an N64, then that system as well.
