@sieanr, Oh yeah I forgot about that article. What a fucking jackass Cole was, arguing that the console that loses its manufacturer the most money is the greatest value to the consumer? I'd like him to explain that to the countless retirement homes picking up Wiis so they can stay active and social, or to everybody who's going to lose weight with Wii Fit, or get the Wii-exclusive gaming heaven that is Brawl. I always figured he left Joystiq because after a few million more Wii sales his head exploded. More than any Nintendo hater, he seemed like the guy who had some sort of ulcer that acted up at every Wii sale.

Heh, I remember that article, Penny Arcade pointed out how full of FAIL it was. Then Cole posted an update where he...well said the same thing in the first article. It was the dumbest argument ever. I mean, most products are sold at a profit, why shouldn't consoles be? lol

He was trying to make a jab at Nintendo no more how faulty the logic.

But the Jist of hsi argument(Yeah I know he had one if you could believe it) was:

There has been a trend in video games called lossleading where companies make money back from software.

If Nintendo had true confidence in there machine they would sell it at a loss but since they don't and sell it at a profit than that must mean that Nintendo thinks they will fail and therefor will fail.

Where both MS and Sony are confident enough to give you a console at a loss since they think they will win and therefor will do better than Nintendo who is not trying.

Yup seems perfectly soudn to meOn opposite day
