The new consoles supposedly come with the HDD transfer cable.
GameStop will even let you hang onto your HDD for 7 days if you do the trade in thing. You get your credit back when you turn in your old HDD.
Plus, your purchases and content are tied to your account, not your console so the only thing you really need to back up are your game saves/progress, which I think (someone verify) can be backed up to a USB flash drive.
