Apparently the USA has spent $280B so far in Afghanistan, if they were to 'appropriate' (which they won't) these resources they would have to occupy Afghanistan for a hell of a long time and the costs would almost certainly top the $900B which is the raw value of the materials. Basically Obama will be happy about this because it gives the shaky Afghanistan government more chance to maintain itself without international presence. |
