Hell Nintendo/Microsoft both did it, they're dumb though and obviously not as smart as Sony when it comes to making hardware choices.

This thread is so pointless. Jneul already mentioned that he's seen a hub for 4 PS Move chargers. 1 USB, 4 controllers charged. You can't charge batteries and play on the Wii either unless you have spares, but then that's an additional and collective cost if you're constantly buying AA batteries. If you run out of AA batteries (the non-chargable kind) and realise you're out, what then? You're forced to leave the house to buy more. You could say Nintendo were silly for forcing people to get rechargable batteries or constantly shell out for new batteries.. I ended up buying a rechargable station for the Wii which uses a USB port to charge AAA batteries whilst the console is on standby. But then I also had to buy the rechargable batteries for it.
Most people (not just gamers but general consumers) would see having to use AA batteries as backwards now as nearly all electronic devices have chargable batteries. iPod, mobile phones, laptops, iPhone, iPads, MP3 players, handheld gaming devices etc.I know that I hate having a device where I can't charge the batteries and forces me to go out and buy more. Fiddling around with batteries is more hassle (remove batteries, find charging dock, place into charging dock, wait, remove batteries, place back into device, play) than just plug 'n charge.
Everyone has a phone that needs regular charging and stops being mobile when you do, yet people cope. And USB is now well established in everyones home that charging becomes a non-issue. At quick count I have 19 USBs in my flat from a range of devices, 15 of which are currently free if I want to charge a device, 3 of which have cables attached to them so I can connect a device for charging.
