Hence the quotation marks.  I'm aware of Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, Powerslave, Doom, Turok, etc. that were available years before or around the same time.  It's just that, at the time, it was THE first person shooter.  It was the only one that mattered.

If you qualify your statement as the only FPS that mattered on the consoles, then you have a point.  The PC had moved beyond what Goldeneye had to offer when it was released.

I can't deny that.  And, since console gaming has grown more and more "PC like" since then, the future for Goldeneye on the Wii looks even more bleak.  But hey, Nostalgia is a powerful thing.  If anything, it will probably sell well.
