You seem to be confusing innovation with preference. There's nothing innovative about making Kirby or Donkey Kong in 3D. It's been attempted. 3D platformers altogether aren't innovative just for being 3D. It's not 1996 anymore. Frankly I can't see how Donkey Kong in 3D or Kirby in 3D could be more innovative just for being in 3-dimensions as opposed to the heaping of innovation Kirby Epic Yarns currently is. I don't even give a crap about Kirby and I'm itching to try that out.
