You have every right to be unimpressed, but it's obvious why it got all the props.

Still the question has to be asked why Nintendo couldn't have been as innovative as they were last year when they had both a 3d platformer and a 2d platformer?  Surely many fans would have liked a new 3d platformer from Nintendo just as much as a new 2d platformer.

Limited resources? Really, look at all the games coming from Nintendo this year, so what if there are two 2D platformers while they didn't offer us a new 3D platformer. They just realeased Super Mario Galaxy 2, which was largely lauded as best 3D platformer EVER, and DKC will come this same year, on the holydays. It's not like nitnendo neglected part of it's fanbase or anything, it's just the direction they went with this game.

Besides, again, taht's what people wanted in the first place. They can do whatever they want afterwards, but people have expected for a DKC return for so long now. It's also not like every platforming franchise has to embrace 3D gameplay either, or like it's more worthy or something.
