The HD consoles failed? eh? MS sold 25m Xbox's - the 360 is currently at 40m, so they will easily DOUBLE what they did last gen, on top of that the 360 is now the 6th best selling home console ever and will soon past the SNES and possibly the NES before its done. On your other earlier point.. Philips was the majority royalty maker from CD, and on DVD it was split between many many companies... on Blu-Ray it is estimated that Sony own about 25% of the IP. royalties from blu-ray will never get anywhere near DVD. |
i was comparing it to the leader Wii
compared to the XBOX brand it did very well but as i said because of the low XBOX brand name it coudln't challenge Wii at even a low price
on your other point
yes i know SONY didn't own everything on CD and DVD but still SONY was key in makaing those fomats succesfull and they would have earned something for that
SONY owns much more than 25% in blu-ray sales, don't just go on bullshiting.SONY bore the biggest loss on BLU-RAY and also sacfrificed their biggest brand name at that time to make it succesfull.also blu-ray just became successful because of PS3.
and BLU-RAY will get near DVD next gen,blu-ray has low sales because it is what DVD was when launched earlier before it was cheap and put into DVD
