Two Nintendo Rumors(one for 3DS, another for...Wii Hi-Fi)

Chances are Nintendo will hint at HiFi if that is indeed the codename or actually confirm it for release in the near future. Also keep in mind Miyamoto stated that the next console would have HD support he said so back in 2006. This means the console was already deep in development.

My bet is the console will be announced briefly at the end of Nintendo's conferance. However Nintendo might hold off till next E3 as they did with 3DS as to catch consumers off gaurd. But a new home console announcement from Nintendo is more then just possible it is a 50/50 chance in my mind maybe even 60/40!

Microsoft isn't going to do something stupid like announce a follow-up to the X360 if they're hedging so many bets on the Natal.  Besides that, the X360 and PS3 still have untold secrets, power, and wealth in them.  On top of that, it would be a financial disaster for third parties and MS to suddenly try to jump to the next generation.  The jump last time killed off a great many developers and publishers.  Suffice to say:  Ever-increasing development costs extremely low initial userbase = millions of lost dollars.

Nintendo is highly unlikely to announce a follow-up to the Wii right now.  They're focus will be entirely on the 3DS and some new Wii games no one cares about.  Besides that, despite having no real third party support, the Wii is still selling really well. 

For that matter, so is are the Xbox360 and PS3.  Everything is going really well for everyone right now.  This is not the time to screw it all up with sudden announcements of new consoles, the 3DS and potential PSP2 notwithstanding.

Natal is only the expensive beta for whatever the real product is, waiting in the wings. Plus Microsoft desperately needs a total rebranding if they stand to compete with Nintendo at all. A new console is a chance at an image refresh that Microsoft and Nintendo could both use. Nintendo needs a new chance with the self-proclaimed hardcore, and Microsoft needs a new chance with everyone else.
