Wii sports has sold more than all the gran turismo games combined >:D
if GT3 got bundled with every PS2 sold, wii sports wouldnt be such hot shit as it is today
GT3 did get a healthy amount of sales in bundles actually. And Wii Sports actually isn't bundled with every Wii sold either. :P
GT5 bundles were also costlier than the normal PS2 SKU
and amost all Wii sports sales have come with a Wii
Yeah, a whopping $30 at a time when PS2 was extremely supply constrained... for awhile in the US during summer 2001 the GT3 bundle was the only SKU even on shelves.
And Japan likely gives a good indication for how Wii Sports would've performed unbundled (about 1:3 with installed base). Even if it weren't bundled, Wii Sports would in all likelihood be sitting at ~25m (like Wii Fit/Play).
but GT got paid where as most of WII SPORTS didn't
i ma not saying it disn't sell well, just that people saying it outsold all of GT and HALO titles combined or separately is not true
Uh, who says Wii Sports didn't get "paid for"? If Nintendo didn't bundle it, I sincerely doubt Wii would've been $249... it certainly wouldn't have squared with the unbundled Japanese price of 25,000 yen (about $205 then)...
no it wouldn't have been lower
Wiisports bundling doesn't cost Nintendo more than a $3-5 as being first party.
also Wii needed it as too show the capabilities of Wii motion controls like MOVE demo coming in
Actually, Wii Sports being bundled cost them another $49.99 launch title. There's no way Wii would've been more than $199.99 without Wii Sports included.
it cost them $49.99 if they would have sold it as a game
but the manufacturing cost of Wii sports isn't that much,it is barely $3-5 so the $249 doesn't include
you really think they attack the price of a full game on the Wii SKU $249.....................lmao
its like saying the 360 ELITE HALO and HALO 3 bundles only cost $180 and the other $120 is for the games........lol
they give it for free cause it doesn't really cost them and to push the system with it which will bring more SW sales
also we don't know it it wasn't included that many people not knowing Wii's capability would have bought it
From Nintendo's prespective, yes that's exactly what I'm saying. They likely felt they could get away with $249.99 largely because they were throwing in a "free" game. Had they gone ahead with selling Wii Sports separately instead, they likely would've launched at $199.99.
Again, look at Japan. Wii Sports came separate, and the console cost about $200.
