With Nintendo their user base halfed in the n64 gen and then halfed again in the gc gen. If this happened to sony, losing half their user base two gens in a row, would they be able to survive? Nintendo did because of loyal fan base that will always buy a nintendo for the first party game, which are arguably some of the best games released each gen. I cant seen sony coming back from such beatings, let alone becoming the dominate number one again.
