Toriyama directed ones have excelled more in battle systems/world/characters/lore (which actually end up making like them more but I don't know how many of those things he's responsible for) So thats the only reason why I'm uncertain of placing Toriyama on that level even though I do think of him highly. I respect Yuji Abe a lot too, he's terrific at making battle systems. |
Lore is a must in every RPG IMO. Lore plays an enormous part in me liking FFX. Nomura's games.. how should I say it.. don't excel in story, lore, or anything... to say the least.
Anyway, Kitase's pretty good - even in if the story in FF VIII borders on terrible. The battle system and world in that game are brilliant, but the story and main characters are... butchered.
