I freelance for different sites and do PR stuff for a few as well. To draw any conclusion based on a week of stats is pointless. Site stats rise/fall on a regular basis, and with the new layout hitting late in the month, and it being the month before E3 when news and releases come to a freakin hault, it'll be hard for them to tell until a month or two go by.
Pretty much everyone will get a big boost from E3, too... so that skews data if you're just looking for how the new layout is working. But if you compare the loadtime of the site now compared to what it was, there was a huge increase. It went from 95% of sites being faster than VGChartz to 81% being faster. It may not be the most important thing in the world, but the loadtimes are what have kept me, and several of my friends, from being active in the past.
