When did you opinion about Gameplay being the most important thing become fact?  What if someone says that the most important thing to them about a book is the beginning, but you and most other people think the ending is the most important part of a book?  Does the fact that most people agree with you turn your opinion into a fact?  Simple answer is no, it's still an opinion.

Because the literature in a book is constant from beginning to end, they are still words and they still have the same story.

In a video game, graphics are not gameplay. The ability to play a game stems from the gameplay, not the graphics. "You can't play graphics"

You can play video games without graphics eh?  Go ahead and close your eyes the next time you play SMG2 and tell me how that works out for you.  The ability to play the game stems from both, otherwise it wouldn't be a video game it would just be a game.

You beat me to that point, but indeed poor graphics can hinder gameplay, especially when you have bad camera angles, poor collision detection and the like, you simply can't have good gameplay if your character is falling through a non existant hole in the floor.  The pair go hand in hand, but sadly it is kinda true with a lot of people, reviewers, and the like, tired repetitive gameplay is okay if the game is like a movie, while the game industry is not movies, they shouldn't be in the business of making movies posed as games.

And that is what causes a lot of the standoffs, gameplay over graphics, graphics over gameplay, but the best games always seem to mesh the two and everyone seems to live in peace for the time being lol
