Well, while I think that graphics are important I also think that there are other things that are waaaay more important.
I agree with the OP in some aspects and I'm also a more Nintendo-oriented gamer, but there are some things that I cannot tolerate in some games, for example circle shadows or Emil's hair in Dawn of the New World XD.
Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?
