I grew up on fantasy, but I don't like it anymore. I started reading David Eddings, mostly. Read most of the usual suspects: Tolkein, Frank Herbert (Sci-Fi, I know).

Now I'm more into authors like Palahniuk, Denis Johnson, and Carl Hiaasen.

I don't believe, btw, that gamers read more than non-gamers. I think that there are many serious readers who believe that videogames are shameful and overly violent. They'd much rather curl up with a book than a plastic controller. Most of my friends are readers and gamers, but that is probably because I tend to be drawn to both those types of people.

So what kind of fantasy do you write?
