I was talking about dvds upscaled through my Sylvania BD player - sure, with Blu-Ray I can see the pores on an actors face, but for the majority of movies out there upscaled dvds and 5.1 surround is good enough for me. VHS to dvd was a huge improvement in every way - dvd to Blu-Ray isn't that big of an upgrade for someone who isn't a technophile - which the majority of consumers aren't. Don't get me wrong - I love my BD player for movies like Planet Earth, Avatar, TDK, Transformers, Battlestar Galactica series, etc. But for movies like Crazy Heart, The Lovely Bones, Lost series, etc. that aren't full of eye candy I'll get on dvd because its usually cheaper and I can watch them on my laptop, kids can watch in the suv, and I can loan to friends. VHS needed to be replaced - dvd is still good enough for the majority of consumers.
