1)Yes, and that one store would probably be Wal-Mart. Also, it doesn't matter if one place is out of stock, so long as one person has it. Consumers are not going to go to Amazon, see it's out, and say "Oh well, I guess I wont have a PS3 then." If they actually want the product, they will go to other stores and buy it. People are not that lazy. 2)Yes, but don't you think it is a little silly to think that there would be a shortage for that long, esspecially when they aren't shipping many PS3s anyway. Seems dumb to think that a large multinational corperation can only send out, like >150k a week when their competitors can do better. Makes you think that the shortage is an excuse, not a real happening. Also, remember that when Wiis were out of stock, people would wait in lines and calls stores endlessly to get one. People had to go though a lot to get one. I have seen no lines in front of Best Buy to get PS3s. I hear no calls to get a PS3. So where is this mad shortage? Also, the only source we have on a PS3 shortage is Gamestop said they were out of stock for Q1. It is now Q2, going on 3. |
Exactly.. Do these people going on about massive shortages REALLY believe that most potential PS3 buyers would go to one or two stores, find them out of stock, and just give up? If they DO give up that easilly, then they must not have wanted to get one that much anyway. Only certain stores are out of stock, at certain times, in certain location. Meaning the vast majority of people who want a PS3, can probably still get one, they may just have to look a bit harder. But this means that it shouldn't really affect sales much if at all.
Another thing these people fail to answer, is if there is such big shortages in the US, why is it that Europe, which tends to sell more PS3s, is selling a similar amount to the US on a regular basis? It's obvious there are no shortages THERE, so why are sales almost equal to US sales?
