Some of them are known to be able to do so, yes. Intelligent Systems routinely juggles multiple projects, and the Zelda team is split (though there's a lot of overlap between them)

OK. I was thinking that maybe EDA 1 was working on a new Mario Kart for the DS. It would be early to make a platformer.
