| postofficebuddy said: PS3 just barely edges out Wii according to MC, Wii just barely edges out PS3 according to VGC. I'd call it a statistical tie unless Famitsu is noticeably different from both trackers. I'd be worried if Wii didn't win next week but then again sequels generally don't have a whole lot of impact on HW. ACE:R and Episodes from Liberty City are performing pretty well on the COMG charts. The next few weeks are going to be rather interesting. Why isn't RDR getting a Japanese release? Rockstar has a pretty decent following over there considering how well GTA4 did and how well Episodes is looking to do. |
Wii & PS3 have generally been tied since April, barring Golden Week's usual Nintendo push (which didn't last). I expect Wii will edge out PS3 next week, but you're right in that direct sequels generally don't push hardware much, so I wouldn't expect a significant enough spread to really say much.
The only upcoming games (with dates) that I'd expect to deliver that for the hardware would be DQM Battle Road (for Wii) and ACE: R (for PS3). Basara 3 might push PS3 too, though that game's still a bit of a wildcard imo (Musou style game should lean heavily PS3, but the female heavy fanbase may lean to Wii instead). Xenoblade could push Wii, but it could flop hard just as easily. Power Pro 2010 should push PS3 decently, but the PSP release may diminish it's impact and DQM will ensure Wii comes out ahead that week anyway.
RDR's weird, Capcom published Revolver in Japan too. With GTA4's success over there you'd think Rockstar would be eager to get it out and link them up.
