I guess it depends on how you look at it. It did sell 4million, which is good.

I, myself, would say it did bad though. When compared to the other Sony FF, it sold the worst (even under X-2). And sales for the US were rather low for it. It was also said to put the PS3 on the map, but it didn't. You may also question how much was lost on this game, and could they have made more money doing other things in the 4 years it took to develop.

Your problem is you don't look at the big picture.

FFXII first week - 2.8mill

FFXIII (PS3) first week total - 2.7mill

If we take that into account, especially considering the userbase difference (if we want to go that route), FFXIII has performed very well (remember, this is without the inclusion of 360 sales). A nice chunk of "would be PS3/FFXIII owners" have 360s and bought it there instead. But looking at the totals, FFXIII is going to outperform XII with ease.

Between the two, it could reach 7mill, which would put it in FFX territory (meaning the 360's sales account for the splitting of the userbase). The sales are good and will exceed both XII & X-2.

Edit: XIII (altogether) has already topped X-2.

My bad, didn't include 360 sales.

The thing is first week means nothing anymore. You never look at first week for success because it is not a good indicator of success or long term results. Too often do games have a strong 1st week and then just drop off. Mario Party 8 is a good example. And Carnival Games. And let's not forget about Just Dance. It is just not relevant.

You have to take into account that compaired to other FF, it's not preforming as well, esspecially as ot was claimed to do so much. It's sales are good, but I consider it a failure in the context of other FF games.
