Unless you tried Vista some years back and have been in a bubble since, then there's no excuse for you to be this clueless. XP and Windows 7 are both almost universally acknowledged as great operating systems. And they are both capable of more than any other OS... unless "running software" is somehow not factored into the equation.

Power users began to shift away from windows well before vista was out:

The software industry at large is still using Windows.
