Not to mention they have offered no exteneded warranty for YLOD repairs which seem to effect almost every launch unit within 3 years or so.
Extended warranty only exists on the 360 due to miserable built quality. It also does not cover all kinds of failures.

It was clear those chips had to go eventually, any tech enthusiast could tell you this.

It was a nice extra, not key functionality. You can still buy an external solution (most however won't).
