@mortono you seem to not be on Mario's slong like most of the fanboys here. So I gotta ask do you still have 2 revisit the same levels 5&6 times to get those stupid stars??? that is really the only problem I have with the 3d Marios, it makes it repetitive and it bores me. I wish it as more like the 2d ones in that regard. If im done with a level i wanna keep it moving. seriously if I dont have to hunt for stupid stars per level then ill get it along with MNRs

Yes you do have to revisit levels. Although some of the retooled levels are different enough that I can't tell they are the same. It's more or less keeping the theme but creating a new level within it.

The world map is dumb to me. It's like they wanted to shove in as much 2d mario as they could after NSMB Wii sold out during the holidays. So they stuck in the world map from the 2d mario games, although it is not the same. Now you have to collect enough stars to be able to progress rather than just beating each level progressively. There are less "goodies" within the world map as most of those lie on Starship Mario (which you have to painfully navigate). There are alternate paths, but not as varied and interesting as it was in New Super Mario Bros.

I'm getting very tired of the game's "signs". It seems everywhere I go in this game, there is a sign telling me what to do and how to play. Starship mario doesn't even have anything interesting on it, it's just a bunch of NPC's telling me "special moves" that I already knew how to do.

I know they are trying to rope in New Super Mario Bros fans, but this is silly! New Super Mario Bros was fun because it didn't have a million signs explaining how to play the game. It didn't need it.

How effective are tutorials anyways? Do newbies actually appreciate this stuff? I know that whenever I started a new gameplay style, I would usually just play until I figured it out. I would never go up to a sign or a tutorial and actually appreciate watching it.

Anyways, sorry for the Galaxy 2 hate. But someone had to criticize this game! Seems like everyone is playing it with their eyes glazed over.
