"I wrote in the past that to counter Move's attack, Nintendo would have been forced to offer 1:1 tracking standard, with no overprice and not as optional anymore."

The problem is you are assuming the Move is something worth countering already. If the games are not appealing to the mainstream, then the greater controls and graphics fall into basically the same trap that lost the HD systems billions.

This is a different issue: I perfectly know that to succeed Move needs good games, and maybe more than that: good games that are also appealing for PS3's current audience and for the expanded one Sony tries to attract. But this issue is instead the perceived features offered as standard, Move offers that 1:1 tracking included, so Nintedo must offer it, and it's obvious that to follow its strategy of outguessing and possibly disrupting its competitors, it can't wait to see whether Move is successful or not, it must be ready before: this obviously apply only to Wii's key features, Nintendo doesn't need and never needed BD, for example, but WiiMote is an essential feature and Nintendo can't afford the risk of it being outsmarted, particularly due to the current situation, 1:1 itracking is not a heavens know what exotic feature, it's a thing that Nintendo offers as a pay add-on, but that current tech could allow to include in the standard controller at a cost lower than what the original one had one year ago, with two added pros, not having a "thingy" attached to it and widening the potential user base, so that 3rd parties would have a bigger incentive to develop for it.
