Oh man, that's insidious stuff. Can you imagine what would happen if the tea party assimilated that 0.5% of the electorate comprised by libertarians? They'd be unstoppable!

It's pretty strange that you, as a libertarian, have infinitely more vitriol for people who have some libertarianish values than you do for people who haven't a libertarian bone in their bodies. Even stranger when the latter control all the levers of power and the former control none.

 

But yea it is possible I could hate someone who could be a diehard libertarian if I think they are nothing more than a fake and a liar.  I have more respect for someone who is a diehard socialist than a two-faced libertarian.  At least one of them has respect for themselves.  Which is why I don't like the tea party people because personally I don't think they take my political ideologies all that serious.

 

 

 

I don't see how you can think that they're trying to put one over on anybody. For one thing, I've never seen them claim to be libertarians (though I have seen a lot of libertarians who have varying degrees of enthusiasm for the tea party). It actually seems like you should have a fair amount in common with them politically, but you'd rather take potshots at them because they're so decidedly uncool.
