Sigh.. why do people insist on spreading this nonsense again and again and again and again. As I have explained at least twice, this is not how the real world works. For the last fiscal year, Sony announced shipment of 13 mio units. That was not a number pulled out of thin air, that was the amount according to the orders they received from their regions. Exactly those 13 mio units were produced (as you can see in their fiscal year report) and not a single unit more - simply because it wasn't in the plan to produce more. Now ,in hindsight, America seems to have wanted more units than they ordered - bad luck. Again for the n-th time: America got every unit they ordered for the fiscal year. No other region shipped their units to America just because Americans are so nice (simply because it would be a logical nightmare and they were selling all their alotted units). For this fiscal year, Sony announced 15mio units. So there will be 2 mio units more manufactured - but what region ordered enough units and if America ordered enough this time - we will see in the coming months. If shortages continue in America - tough luck again, they get the short end of the stick, again. Sony is not going to magically increase production on short notice (that would probably take 3/4 of a year - just remember how long Nintendo went through their draught period before they increased production of the Wii).
