Sales - WW up - View Post

I guess the Wii/DS/Xbox 360/PSP are all losing steam. However the former three are still selling extremely well and are all extremely profitable.

I wonder if the Wii can really be turned around back towards 50% market share. I suspect it cannot. I think Nintendo ought to release a new model at the end of 2011 because theres no point in letting the system decline to nothing or let their competitors pass them. I suspect the longer they wait the harder it'll be and their Wii successor can really offer next generation experiences and cut short any increased momentum the Xb and PS can achieve at the tail end of this generation by rendering them obsolete in both performance and interface.

I think the decline of the PSP is pretty much terminal. The system is on a down and down and I doubt it will get any better any time soon and once the 3DS is out I suspect that will be the swansong of the handheld.

The DS is just biding time for the 3DS at this point. Its reached market saturation but I think good things will come of the 3DS and the adoption rate for the first year will be astronomical especially if it manages to be something for everyone in terms of performance, battery life, unique gaming features and they throw in some media playback as well. IMO they would be fools to not at least make it a mobile movie/music player and to significantly beef it up with an app store and a really good browser.

The Xbox 360 has sold relatively steady pretty much all the time its been on the market. I think Natal and the slim Xbox 360 with whatever price adjustments or lack thereof will be enough to keep it selling at a good rate for the next couple of years.

Tease.
