This game was overhyped on the whole internet because it was supposed to be the "BEST GAME EVA", the BEST GFX EVA, the best survival horror game that is so good that you DO NOT HAVE the right to call it a survival horror game (thx you Remedy for this last point)
also, the game has no online multiplayer which seems to be more and more important for gamers today ...
It is released close to RDR which is getting high praising
AND the pre-orders where showing us since numerous weeks that game will not have amazing sales.

I'm not saying it wasn't overhyped when going by metacritic. I'm just saying you're falsely accusing the entire internet of going off the rails for AW with "best game eva" or "best gfx eva". That doesn't mean there were ppl out there hyping it but be realistic about what you're saying instead of bringing everything to the utmost extreme about it.

I promise you, plenty of people were overhyping this game (or had overexpectation about it)
it includes gaing journalist that felt in love with AW 5 years ago and where expecting a bit more from this game.
again, the game is very good but it is as good as people were expecting.
Also, low sales, are mainly explained by :
Xbox360 internet AW fans are not that much compared to the majority of Xbox360 users that do not know AW (not enoguth marketing ? not enought high review ?) and may not be interested in (no multiplayer ? others game releases ?)

I've already recognized this previously. The problem is your first statement makes it out to be hyped that it was going to be the second coming like other games (such as MGSIV, Halo 3, yada yada yada) which is false. Granted if you only saw selnor's threads then I'd be inclined to agree.
I'l repeat again, I'm not saying AW didn't meet expectations or was over-hyped (according to metacritic). I'm only saying your first post overhypes the hype.

My only "mainstream video game" login is my VCGhartz login ....
At the end, N4G and VGC are the places I go to see if the hype is high or low. For AW, IMO, It was pretty high on both board.
Perhaps, I missed the point and I just overhyped the hype
