Apparently, that comes from Prima's official strategy guide for the game. I'd think that's a pretty reliable source. Plus, other websites seem to have been reporting the existence of these green stars as well.

That plus the info that's been sprouting up everywhere saying you'll be able to control Luigi throughout the game before getting 120 stars, makes it seem likely the 2nd batch of 120 stars won't be the same ones as the first 120, only for Luigi (like in Galaxy 1). Well, anyway, IF they exist, and they're what they're rumoured to be, then it appears there are in fact 240 unique stars in the game... That would be incredible, but I'm still not totally convinced.

Just a few more days and we'll know for sure, I guess.

We already know that Luigi can complete the extra monkey challanges. I guess those will be different tasks in the same locations, and you'll get a green star for them.

'Extra monkey challenges'? Hmm, never heard of those, what are they then, exactly? Well anyway, different tasks in the same locations would still mean 240 unique stars. I'm still skeptical, but we'll see.

It was mentioned that some monkey character you meet at the start of the game challenges you to beat loads of enemies and the like.
