Classic gaming has been unchanged for the past years. The eyetoy had eye toy games, but gaming was made up of thumb-pads. If anything has been learned from the Wii, its that moving on to more full body movements as input is acceptable in gaming.

While I prefer the DS3 as well, there is the potential for the companies to make alot of money introducing new controllers and marketing them well. Theres no precedence for this type of thing, but you would have to assume they would atleast consider hoping on it. You would take away atleast parts of the growing Wii fanbase by offering a simliar experience along with all the classic ways people enjoy gaming.
