What the hell are you talking about?... first of all, while both attach rate and ratio are used to mean the same thing, i generally view them seperate... but both are simple mathematical calculations based on hardware and software sales.
The attach ratio is exactly that... Software sales divided by hardware sales.
The attach rate is a term often used to mean the same thing as above, but to me it simply adds a time into the equation..... thus attach rate = software sales divided by hardware sales for a given length of time.... referring back to my earlier post my simplified example showed that both X360 and PS3 had the exact same attach rate, but due to extra time on the market the X360s attach ratio was higher.
Attach ratio = Software/hardware
Attach rate = (software/hardware)/time period
What exactly is your definition of attach rate/ratio.
