Is there any difference outside of the fact that in Beat Em Ups, you use your bear hands primarily and in Hack and Slash games you use a sword or axe or something primarily.
Back in the days of 2D... there were only Beat em Ups. (to my knowledge.) Stuff like Golden Axe was specifically called a Beat em up.
Now stuff like Dante's Inferno, God of War, Dynasty Warriors... all Hack and Slash.
Is the Fist of the North Star Dynasty Warriors game a Beat em up just because Kenshiro uses his fists? If not... well why not? Why would it have been seen as a Hack and Slash if it showed up before Dynasty Warriors?
