Still a console. It's like separating Laptops from Desktop PC's.

I never considered handhelds and consoles the same. It's different market.
It's more like comparing a Mac with a Ipod.
|
Technically , they are consoles with their own screen and power source....so they are consoles just portable.
And that analogy is horrendous...a mac is a fully functional computer while the Ipod/touch is just a multimedia device.....the Ipod/touch cant do all the things a mac can do.
The DS can play games.....just like the rest of the home consoles.
|
Going by your logic, we should consider the Tamagotchi as a console.
|
Except you missed two incredibly important words in his statement and went straight for the last line.
"fully functional".
I'd like you to come up with a single gaming feature that ANY home console offers that the DS can't.
|
Controllers, motion controls, downloadable content, local multiplayer, great graphics and so on. There's a lot of difference.
But a console is not only for games you see. I personally bought my PS3 for the blu-ray at first which shows it might appeal to a different market while handhelds are exclusively for gaming on the go.

It has buttons ( ), Really?, DSiWare or PSN, Never played a Pokemon game?, DS & PSP can produce "great" graphics.
The PSP can view photos, play movies & music and can browse the web.
Colors FTW

But just so you know before, I was only talking about the DS since that's what he asked.
Yeah but I love analog sticks (mostly for shooters)
Ok motion controls are not that important but still, it can't do it!
I hate DLC anyway :P
I was talking about Splitscreen (I like to cheat by looking at their screens)
Yeah I was talking about the DS.
It's so easier with colors.
