To boil down jayderyu's excellent, though long-winded, response:
The difference between a WRPG and a JRPG is that there's a chance that a WRPG might actually be a RPG in more than just name, whereas a JRPG is a bunch of stats with a story stapled on.
Not that I have anything against stats (Chartz!!!) or stories or mashing them together.
