I kind of understand their gripe, everyone buying a used copy is not buying a new one but someone already bought the new one and now no longer owns that new one, so technically the same amount of people own the game.
Of course if game shops couldn't sell used games they'd better (as in the whole industry) make games cheaper so people can afford them.
