Sony says they would like to make the PS3 profitable and you think Sony will throw it all away with a price cut. Sony already is supply constraining the US and Europe because they are eating a lot for each system sold.
I highly doubt that the PS3 will see a price cut. Sony will make their hardware changes which will net them some profit from the PS3 hardware and then they will ship more units to the US and Europe.
