I've been wondering if they are going to figure out a solution to this as well. Its my view that they're most likely just going to wait until the next systems (successor to the Wii and 3DS) to give people the opportunity to transfer their data to a new system. But even that poses a problem, as it will be questionable how this could be achieved without transmitting all the data to a 'HUB' network and redownloading it again on the new system.
There's also the possibility we won't be able to transfer the data from the Wii or DS to the new systems at all.
